Functional bed frames for all ages
Children’s bedrooms are often cluttered and chaotic. This can make them hard to organise and clean, with your child’s toys and belongings usually being relocated into your own personal space. As a potential solution, cabin beds are a versatile style of bed frame designed for kids' bedrooms that are in need of a bit more freedom.
At Bunk Beds, you can find cabin beds in various styles and sizes. From space-saving solutions to beds designed for study, storage, and play. Check out our collections, here.
The benefits of cabin beds
Focused on storage, a cabin bed solves many challenges in your kid’s bedroom. Some of the main advantages include:
Increased floorspace: By integrating storage into the base of your child’s bed frame, you’ll depend less on additional, sometimes bulky furniture taking up room in the rest of the space. This allows room for more important activities, like playing games, doing homework, and having fun!
Easier tidying: With less clutter scattered around your child’s bedroom, you’ll spend less time organising things on a weekly (or sometimes daily) basis. The large storage compartments in the bed frame provide an easily accessible place to put things away, which makes tidying that much easier.
Unlocking imagination: Cabin beds can often be found with a large space underneath the bed, allowing them to be incorporated into playtime. Whether it’s a makeshift tent made from bed sheets, a princess’s castle or a shop, the only limit is your child’s imagination.
Considerations when buying a cabin bed
To make sure you’re fully satisfied with your child’s new cabin bed, take a few seconds to make sure you’ve thought through the following:
Floor space: While cabin beds are great at reclaiming floor space, it’s always best to double check the amount of space your child’s bedroom has available. As cabin beds tend to be taller than other types of bed frame, it’s best not to place them in rooms with lower-than-average ceilings, such as loft/attic conversions. Once you have your measurements, cross-reference them with the dimensions of the bed frame (which can be found on the product page), and be sure to add a few inches of breathing space.
Storage: Although cabin beds excel at storage, you’ll want to make sure that the storage options line up with the sorts of items needing to be put away. If you’re keeping large items, like extra bedding out of the way, you might need bigger cavities to do so. For smaller items, however, a few compact cupboards will do just nicely.
Age ranges: As mentioned previously, cabin beds tend to be taller than the average bed frame. As such, you’ll need to teach your child how to safely get in and out of the bed. Tall bed frames like high or mid sleepers should only be used by children over six years old. Low sleepers, however, are much closer to the ground, and can therefore be safely be used by children four years and up.
Assembly: Every cabin bed we sell requires self-assembly. We deliver every bed frame in a flat-packed format, but don’t worry - putting your kid’s new bed together won’t require any major carpentry abilities. For a successful build, you’ll need a screwdriver (or a low-powered drill) with Phillips, pozi drive, or hex heads, and a soft mallet. If you get stuck, contact us, and we’ll see how we can help.
Cleaning: Every now and then, your cabin bed will need to be cleaned. To make sure it lasts, we recommend doing it at regular intervals, using a clean damp cloth. Avoid using harsh cleaning chemicals, as these can potentially damage the bed frame’s finish.

Cabin bed sizes
Cabin beds are available in most standard sizes of kids’ beds, such as:
Single Kids’ Beds (3'0" x 6'3"): Suitable for most children over four years, as well as young teenagers, single kids’ beds are the second smallest size we have available.
Small Double Kids’ Beds (4'0" x 6'3"): Sitting between single kids’ beds and standard double kids’ beds, small double kids’ beds add an extra foot of width, while keeping the same length as a single.
Double Kids’ Beds (4'6" x 6'3"): Double kids’ beds are the largest available. They can comfortably fit two or three sleepers, if needed, with six more inches of width over the small double.
