Keeping bedrooms tidy
We know how difficult it can be to keep children's bedrooms well-organised and uncluttered.
From clothes to toys and homework essentials, you may see the storage of your child’s belongings as a never-ending challenge. But worry not, there’s a solution out there. We have a wide variety of storage bed options suitable for small rooms, shared rooms, and growing kids.
The benefits of children’s storage beds
Focused on reducing clutter, a storage bed comes with many advantages, such as:
Maximising space: With plenty of capacity for bed sheets, clothes and other essential items, a kids’ storage bed is a great space-saving solution. Many of these beds make the most of the area under the mattress, with drawers and shelves for everyday organisation. Plus, investing in a storage bed may mean that you can avoid additional bulky furniture, such as wardrobes or toy boxes. This is a vital benefit in small children's bedrooms.
Practical for growing kids: Complete with pull-out drawers, shelves, and desks, a kids’ bed with storage underneath is a versatile and adaptable choice. The flexible storage space can be used for the organisation of toys and games in the early years, and then for clothes and school supplies as your little ones grow.
Bedroom safety and cleanliness: As their bedroom clutter builds over time, there can be a major risk of your child falling over and injuring themselves. But, with a storage bed, this needn’t be the case, with a kids’ storage bed able to be used for everyday organisation, keeping bedrooms free of mess without needing additional furniture.
Considerations when buying a kids’ storage bed
Given the range of benefits, you might be all set to buy a kids’ storage bed. Just be sure to consider the following:
Storage capacity: As mentioned, kids’ storage beds come in a variety of designs and formats, with different types of storage included. A kids’ storage bed with a trundle may well be sufficient for bed sheet storage and the occasional sleepover. However, if you’re seriously short on space, a kids’ mid or high sleeper bed with storage might be best.
Room size and layout: Before you buy, it’s important that you carefully check the dimensions of your children’s bedroom to ensure a comfortable fit. Measure the length, width, and height, and allow for a few extra inches in every direction so that your child can get in and out of the bed safely.
Child’s age and growth: Depending on how old your child is, their bed preferences may vary. A low-level bed, for example, will be ideal for the littlest of children, minimising the fall risk. However, kids aged six and over should be perfectly fine with taller bed choices. There should also be a good amount of wriggle room on the mattress, allowing them to grow into the bed over time.
Cleaning and upkeep: All our storage beds are designed to be easily maintained over time. In case of dust, dirt, or spills, simply use a clean, damp cloth to wipe over the surface. Avoid using harsh cleaning chemicals where you can, as these may impact the bed frame’s appearance.
Types of storage beds for kids
There are many storage-focused bed frames available across our entire kids’ beds range. Featuring a mixture of desks, drawers, and cupboards, they solve many storage challenges effortlessly.
Kids’ storage bed styles
Every child has a preference for their bed. So, to help match those needs, we offer a broad range of different storage bed styles to choose from:
Captain’s Beds: A type of platform bed, a captain’s bed features underbed storage in the form of drawers, cabinets, and cupboards.
Day Beds: These multi-purpose bed frames can be transformed into a sitting area/sofa in the day, before becoming a traditional bed by night.
Cabin Beds: Cabin beds are similar to a mid-sleeper bunk bed, featuring a raised sleeping platform that makes space for desks, storage, or other mattresses.
Teenager Beds: These feature slightly more grown-up designs, often featuring desk space and storage underneath the bed.
Kids’ Loft Beds: Loft beds are raised high from the ground (like a high sleeper bunk bed), making way for taller underbed storage underneath, like wardrobes, study spaces, and bookcases.
Kids’ Trundle Beds: Trundle beds are designed to be versatile, featuring pull-out mattresses for sleepovers.
Kids’ Guest Beds: From folding beds, to beds with trundles and even sofa beds, a kids’ guest bed can come in quite handy for sleepovers and parties.
Kids’ storage bed materials
Most of our storage beds are made from wood, specifically from MFC (melamine-faced chipboard). MFC is a combination of both chipboard and a tough melamine exterior, which can be customised to many different finishes. This makes our storage beds both strong and stylish.
Kids’ storage beds sizes
From the single (3'0 x 6'3") to the double (4'6" x 6'3"), you can find a storage-focused kids’ bed in various sizes. Again, it’s important to consider your child’s current age and size, selecting a frame that allows them to grow.
Other kids’ bed sizes available include:
Toddler Beds (2’3” x 4’ 7”): Toddler beds are smaller than standard bed sizes and are designed to be used by children aged one to four.
Single Kids’ Beds (3'0" x 6'3"): Suitable for most children over four years, as well as young teenagers, single kids’ beds are the second smallest size we have available.
Small Double Kids’ Beds (4'0" x 6'3"): Sitting between single kids’ beds and standard double kids’ beds, small double kids’ beds add an extra foot of width, while keeping the same length as a single.
Double Kids’ Beds (4'6" x 6'3"): Double kids’ beds are the largest available. They can comfortably fit two or three sleepers, if needed, with six more inches of width over the small double.
