Accessible, yet comfortable (and fun!)
Being closer to the ground, low sleeper beds make it easy for your child to get in and out of bed. For shorter children, this is a major help. Not only is this a safer option compared to taller bunk beds (like mid or high sleepers), but being able to do things on their own can be a big boost for their independence.
The benefits of low sleeper beds
Low sleeper beds are a smart choice for younger children, and they solve many problems. The main benefits include:
Saving space: by providing clever storage options in the base of the frame, low sleeper beds can reduce clutter in the room and give everything its own space. This extrastorage is useful for keeping spare bedding, pillows, toys, and books out of sight.
Money savings: as well as saving space, low sleepers can sometimes be a more cost-effective piece of furniture compared to buying separately. Combining storage and sleep, they’re a practical choice for any space-conscious parent.
Accessibility: being closer to the ground, low sleeper beds are generally much easier for younger or shorter children to use. There’s no ladders to climb - just a comfortable bed for them to enjoy.
Considerations when buying a low sleeper bed
While low sleeper beds can feel like an easy choice, make sure you take the following into account before making your decision:
Safety: although low sleepers are closer to the ground than mid or high sleepers, you should prepare your child ahead of time on how to safely get in and out.
Room size: with their low profile, low sleeper beds tend to fit seamlessly into most kids' bedrooms. This means there’s less to consider, but we always advise double checking your room’s dimensions before deciding on a particular frame.
Storage needs: while low sleeper beds aren’t as tall as mid sleepers or high sleepers, they’re still storage-focused, thanks to a mix of cupboards and storage boxes built into the frame. Be sure to keep your child’s storage needs in mind while shopping, as these may change the style of frame you need.
Age ranges: low sleeper bunk beds are suitable for younger children aged four years and up. This is different to more traditional bunk beds with upper/middle bunks, where ages of six and over are required. Depending on how old your child is, their bunk bed preferences may change. No matter their age, make sure they can safely get in and out of the bed!

Assembly: for ease of delivery (and assembly), each of our bunk beds comes flat-packed. Don’t worry, building one shouldn’t take you much longer than one to two hours, and you’ll only need a few common tools. Make sure you have: a screwdriver (or a low-powered drill) with Phillips, pozi drive, or hex heads, and a soft mallet.

Cleaning: to keep your low sleeper bunk bed clean, simply wipe it down every so often with a clean, damp cloth. Using harsh chemicals can risk damaging the finish.
Types of low sleeper beds
Our low sleeper bunk beds come in many styles, finishes, and colours. This makes them easy to fit in with any existing furniture you have.
If you’re looking for something taller, or with specific features, we have other bunk bed styles on offer:
Triple Bunk Beds: feature a double/small double mattress on the bottom bunk (or three stacked single bunks), which offers plenty of room to grow.
Gaming Bunk Beds: come with integrated desks to hold the perfect gaming setup.
L Shaped Bunk Beds: offer an L-shaped desk to enhance space and storage.
Mid Sleeper Beds: shorter than our high sleeper range, mid sleepers allow for shorter storage options like cupboards and cabinets.
High Sleeper Beds: provide enough space for taller storage options like wardrobes and bookcases.
Detachable Bunk Beds: also known as convertible or separable bunk beds, detachable bunk beds can be split into two separate single beds if needed. This provides greater flexibility, making them a perfect long-term investment for growing children or changing bedroom arrangements.
Storage Bunk Beds: designed with built-in storage solutions such as drawers, shelves, or even hidden compartments under the bed or stairs. These space-saving beds are perfect for keeping toys, clothes, and other essentials neatly tucked away, making them ideal for smaller bedrooms or kids who need a little extra organisation.
Low sleeper bed materials
Low sleeper beds are made in one of two materials:
Wooden Bunk Beds: this lightweight material offers strong durability for most uses. It’s also easier to move around while rearranging a room.
Metal Bunk Beds: metal is a slightly more rigid material compared to wood. Metal beds can be heavier, but are also less likely to warp and flex.
Low sleeper bed sizes
Low sleeper beds will often only feature a single mattress. Though, some wider styles can incorporate a small double mattress, or even a standard double.
Single Bunk Beds (3'0" x 6'3"): suitable for most children over four years (on the bottom bunk only), as well as young teenagers, single bunk beds are the smallest size we have available.
Small Double Bunk Beds (4'0" x 6'3"): sitting between single bunk beds and standard double bunk beds, small double bunk beds add an extra foot of width, while keeping the same length as a single.
Double Bunk Beds (4'6" x 6'3"): double bunk beds are the largest available. They can comfortably fit two or three sleepers if needed, with six more inches of width over the small double.
