The benefits of kids’ wooden beds
Wooden beds are well-regarded in the furniture space, and for good reason. Some of the main advantages of a wooden kids’ bed include:
Strength: Our standards ensure that each bed we sell meets our high demands. Using quality materials and fittings, our kids’ wooden beds are built to last.
Timeless appeal: From the classic single to the flexible mid sleeper, the use of wood gives our children's beds a clean and natural appeal.
Affordable choices: There’s no need for a kids’ wooden bed to put a hole in your wallet. There are savings to be made across our entire children's wooden bed frame range, with the option to spread your payments in manageable chunks.
Considerations when buying a kids’ wooden bed
Given the great range of benefits, you’re probably all set to buy a wooden kids’ bed. Just be sure to think about:
Room size: As with all bed purchases, you should be certain that your kids’ next bed will fit perfectly. This will mean checking the usual dimensions of height, length, and width of both their bedroom and the bed frame itself.
Children’s age: From toddlers through to teenagers, children's wooden beds are suitable for a range of ages. Themed beds are the best choice for the littlest boys and girls. However, neutrally coloured kids’ wooden beds might be better if longevity is your priority.
Assembly: Clear assembly instructions are provided as standard across our wooden kids’ beds. That said, there’s some variation in the ease of build, with a screwdriver, soft mallet, and a combination of both Phillips and Pozidriv heads needed. Remember, you can always get in touch with the Bunk Beds team for support.
Cleaning/maintenance: Your little ones are bound to enjoy making a mess. Thankfully, our wooden beds can be easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Just remember not to wet the wood finish too much to avoid expansion.
Types of kids’ wooden beds
Whether you’re looking for kids’ wooden bunk beds or high sleepers, there’s plenty to choose from in our collection. Take your pick from:
Children's wooden bed styles
Most of our children’s beds are assembled with wood materials, such as:
Captain’s Beds: A type of platform bed, a captain’s bed features underbed storage in the form of drawers, cabinets, and cupboards.
Day Beds: These multi-purpose bed frames can be transformed into a sitting area/sofa in the day, before becoming a traditional bed by night.
Cabin Beds: Cabin beds are similar to a mid-sleeper bunk bed, featuring a raised sleeping platform that makes space for desks, storage, or other mattresses.
Teenager Beds: These feature slightly more grown-up designs, often featuring desk space and storage underneath the bed.
Kids’ Loft Beds: Loft beds are raised high from the ground (like a high sleeper bunk bed), making way for taller underbed storage underneath like wardrobes, study spaces, and bookcases.
Kids’ Trundle Beds: Trundle beds are designed to be versatile, featuring pull-out mattresses for sleepovers.
Kids’ Guest Beds: From folding beds, to beds with trundles and even sofa beds, a kids’ guest bed can come in quite handy for sleepovers and parties.
Kids’ Storage Beds: This collection of kids’ beds is designed to improve organisation around their bedroom. They feature various storage options, from cupboards and drawers to bookcases and wardrobes.
Kids’ wooden beds materials
In addition to solid wood slats, our wooden beds also use metal fixtures and fittings for a secure, snug fit. Most of our wooden beds are made from MFC (melamine-faced chipboard), which provides a tough exterior made from a plastic-like material, while the frame itself is composed of dense chipboard. Some frames can also be found using rubberwood.
Children's wooden bed sizes
Our children's wooden beds are available in a range of standard sizes. This includes smaller options such as toddler beds, and bigger alternatives like single kids’ beds.
Toddler Beds (2’3” x 4’ 7”): Toddler beds are smaller than standard bed sizes and are designed to be used by children aged one to four.
Single Kids’ Beds (3'0" x 6'3"): Suitable for most children over four years, as well as young teenagers, single kids’ beds are the second smallest size we have available.
Small Double Kids’ Beds (4'0" x 6'3"): Sitting between single kids’ beds and standard double kids’ beds, small double kids’ beds add an extra foot of width, while keeping the same length as a single.
Double Kids’ Beds (4'6" x 6'3"): Double kids’ beds are the largest available. They can comfortably fit two or three sleepers, if needed, with six more inches of width over the small double.
