Unmatched comfort
Being the largest choice in the Bunk Beds collection, a kids’ double bed is perfect for any child craving extra space.
These bed frames are truly the epitome of comfort, providing massive amounts of space for your child to relax. Thanks to their larger size, these beds also offer great storage features, with full-width pull-out drawers often found underneath the frame.
The benefits of kids’ double beds
Extra space and comfort: As a step up from a small double kids’ bed, a full-size double kids’ bed is a great option for growing children and teenagers. Providing enough space for siblings to sleep side by side, it’s also a great option for active sleepers who toss and turn during the night.
Perfect for bonding: Besides being ideal for children's sleepovers, the extra space even allows adults and children to cuddle up for comforting moments and storytimes.
Long-lasting appeal: With sufficient space for the biggest of kids and teenagers, a kids’ double bed is a dependable choice that lasts well throughout your child’s younger years.
Storage capacity: Most of our double kids’ beds offer a form of storage underneath the mattress. Some have a blank space underneath, which is perfect for sliding storage boxes, while others will come with pull-out drawers built into the frame itself.
Considerations when buying a double bed frame for kids
Although you may well be convinced that a double kids’ bed is the right choice, be sure to take the following into account first:
Room size and layout: Given the larger size of a kids’ double bed frame, it’s vital that you check their bedroom size before buying. Remember, there should be enough space around the bed for some additional furniture, as well as space for your child to get in and out of the bed comfortably.
Safety features: Being fairly low to the ground, double kids’ beds are a generally safe choice for kids. Unlike bunk beds, there are fewer options with a top bunk, so there’s a smaller risk of injury from falling. Plus, each bed we sell is made to meet British regulatory standards. We also offer a 12-month warranty on select bed frames for your peace of mind.
Budget: Although double beds are inherently more costly than smaller options, you should think of them as more of an investment. These beds offer unparalleled dimension compared to other beds, making them the perfect choice for growing children.
Ease of assembly: All our beds will arrive disassembled in a flat pack. This does mean that you’ll need to build the frame yourself when it arrives. To help, each bed comes with detailed instructions to make assembly a doddle. All you’ll need is a screwdriver with Phillips and Pozidriv heads, a soft mallet, and roughly one to two hours of your time.
Types of kids’ double beds
Available in multiple styles, with high-quality materials, there’s a lot of choice available at Bunk Beds.
Double Kids Bed Styles
Our double kids’ bed range includes two main styles:
Kids’ Double Beds with Storage: With drawers that fit perfectly under the kids’ double bed frame, you can optimise the children's bedroom space with these beds. They can be used for the organisation of everything from bed sheets to toys and other items.
Kids’ Double Beds Without Storage: If you already have your own storage boxes, you can forego the included drawers in many of our double bed styles.
Kids’ double bed materials
Most of our double kids’ beds are made from MFC (melamine-faced chipboard). This makes them easy to maintain thanks to the tough exterior, and extremely rigid thanks to the reinforced chipboard and high-quality fixtures and fittings.
Kids’ double bed dimensions
As mentioned, a kids’ double bed frame comes in a standard size of 4’6” x 6’3”.
If this is a little too large, we also offer kids’ beds in the following sizes:
Toddler Beds (2’3” x 4’ 7”): Toddler beds are smaller than standard bed sizes and are designed to be used by children aged one to four.
Single Kids’ Beds (3'0" x 6'3"): Suitable for most children over four years, as well as young teenagers, single kids’ beds are the second smallest size we have available.
Small Double Kids’ Beds (4'0" x 6'3"): Sitting between single kids’ beds and standard double kids’ beds, small double kids’ beds add an extra foot of width, while keeping the same length as a single.
