Huge bunk bed variety
When shopping for a child’s bedroom, you’ll know how easy it is to run out of space. Keeping everything organised without giving up style is a major challenge that all parents go through, but we’re here to help.
Our single bunk beds are made from high quality materials, and we have a range of styles and designs to match your child’s imagination. Some can even be split into two separate bed frames, which is great for boosting independence as the kids get older.
The benefits of single bunk beds
There are many single bunk beds to choose from at BunkBeds.co.uk, each one with its own benefits. These include:
Space savings: where possible, combining bulky furniture is great for re-claiming lost space, especially in a child’s bedroom. Single bunk beds are perfect for this - they’re narrow enough to fit into tight spaces, while still offering storage through pull out drawers and underbed space.
Money savings: when you’re buying new furniture for a child’s bedroom, the costs can quickly build., Combining multiple items into one piece instead can not only save you space, but - depending on the style - can also save you money.
Bonding: when you teach your kids to share, they become closer as a result. Bunk beds are great for this, as they encourage your children to split things evenly, including their personal space.
Considerations when buying a single bunk bed
Before ordering your single bunk bed, make sure you consider the following points:
Safety: being raised off the ground, single bunk beds have some slightly different safety measures to keep your child safe, like guards and railings around the top bunk. The bunk beds we sell come with these measures already in place.
Room size: depending on the style you choose, single bunk beds can be narrow, meaning they can fit nicely into smaller bedrooms. Before you order, make sure you take the dimensions of your child’s bedroom into account to ensure a good fit.
Storage needs: choosing a bunk bed can be a more space-efficient approach to bedroom storage, so make sure you consider this before ordering. Single bunk beds with storage, for example, can either be found with drawers and boxes built in, or designed to feature a gap under the bottom bunk for sliding your own storage accessories underneath.
Age ranges: your child’s age can also slightly alter the type of single bunk bed you go for. If you have younger children, your main concern might be storage. Older children or teenagers, meanwhile, may need their own space to study and play games with friends. Just remember, only children over six years of age can sleep on the top bunk!

Assembly: although you will need to build your single bunk bed when it arrives, there’s no need to worry. Assembly only requires a few hand tools, such as: a screwdriver (or a low-powered drill) with Phillips, pozi drive, or hex heads, and a soft mallet. If you’re feeling stuck, contact us and we’ll be happy to help.
Care and maintenance: keeping your single bunk bed clean is as simple as wiping it down every so often with a clean, damp cloth. Be careful to avoid harsh cleaning chemicals, as these can risk stripping the finish of the bed frame.

Single bunk bed materials
Our single bunk beds can be found in wood or metal. Which one you choose comes down to your needs, with each material having its benefits:
Wooden Bunk Beds: wood is used across multiple types of bed frame because of its relatively light weight and durability. Wood is easy to clean, work with, and repair.
Metal Bunk beds: metal is less prone to warping and flexing, and can be more rigid.
Single bunk bed dimensions
Single bunk beds have enough surface area for a single mattress. They are 3’ (90cm) wide and 6’ 3” (190cm) long. Remember: the frame itself may add a few inches or even centimetres to both of these dimensions. Looking for something a little bigger? We have a couple more sizes for you to choose from:
Small Double Bunk Beds (4'0" x 6'3"): sitting between single bunk beds and standard double bunk beds, small double bunk beds add an extra foot of width, while keeping the same length as a single.
Double Bunk Beds (4'6" x 6'3"): double bunk beds are the largest size on offer. They can comfortably fit two sleepers if needed, with six more inches of width over the small double.
