At Bunk Beds, we have a wide range of toddlers’ beds and mattresses designed to make bedtime fun and comfortable. Including themed options such as cars, tractors, or a horse and carriage, there’s a great selection for growing girls and boys.
The benefits of toddlers’ beds
Perfect for adapting to your toddler’s needs, there are many benefits to be had with a toddler bed, such as:
Safe design: While keen to see your little one make the step up from a cot to a bed, you’ll also want to ensure that they’re as safe as can be. Most of our toddler beds are designed to be close to the ground, reducing the risk of injury from accidents. Plus, many come with side rails and barriers to keep your toddler safe and secure throughout the night.
Easy transition: Although toddler beds are undeniably larger than cots, their dimensions are designed to make the transition from a smaller to a larger bed as comfortable as possible. This can help your toddler get used to the difference, without feeling overwhelmed.
Saving space: While larger than a cot, toddler beds are ever so slightly smaller than a regular “big kid’s” bed. This helps free up space in the bedroom, allowing more room for activities.
Considerations when buying a toddler’s bed
Given the range of benefits, you might well feel ready to buy a toddler’s bed. Just be sure to consider the following first:
Size and fit: Coming in a standard size of 70 x 140 cm, a toddler’s bed should have more than enough space for your little one. That said, it’s always worth considering their age and height, with a bed for toddlers ideally fitting comfortably and not overcrowding the space. Having the mattress raised a little way from the floor, a toddler’s bed may provide a bit of extra storage space in the smallest of rooms.
Children’s age: A single or bunk bed for toddlers is normally recommended for kids between the ages of 12 months and 4 years. Of cours,e there’s some variation, which mainly depends on your child’s size, development, and comfort.
Ease of assembly: All of our toddler beds will arrive in flat-pack form. This means that you will need to assemble it when it arrives. Don’t worry, though. All you’ll need to get the job done is a handful of tools, like a screwdriver, a soft mallet, and a mixture of Phillips and Pozidriv screw heads.
Longevity: Of course, every child is different and will grow at their own rate. That said, each toddler’s bed has been designed to last for as long as needed, before the transition to a full-size kids’ bed takes place.
Types of toddler beds
There’s a wide assortment of toddler’s beds, in designs that children are bound to love.
Toddlers’ bed styles
We offer toddler beds across many options in our entire kids’ bed range. Of which, includes the following styles:
Low Toddler Beds: These beds are designed to remain as close as possible to the floor, preventing the risk of injury from accidental trips and falls.
Themed Beds: Whether it’s a princess bed or race car, our themed toddler beds allow your child to truly express themselves.
Toddler bed materials
Every bed for toddlers is crafted with the same passion and attention to detail. For a blend of both functionality and form, most toddler beds are made from MFC (melamine-faced chipboard). This means that each bed can be easily wiped down with a damp cloth. Some can even be found with fabric finishes, offering a relaxing, comforting vibe to your toddler’s bedroom.
Toddler bed dimensions
A toddler bed comes in a standard size of 70 cm in width and 140 cm in length. This makes them ever so slightly smaller than a standard single kids’ bed.
If you need something a touch larger, we also offer kids’ beds in standard UK bed sizes:
Single Kids’ Beds (3'0" x 6'3"): Suitable for most children over four years, as well as young teenagers, single kids’ beds are the second smallest size we have available.
Small Double Kids’ Beds (4'0" x 6'3"): Sitting between single kids’ beds and standard double kids’ beds, small double kids’ beds add an extra foot of width, while keeping the same length as a single.
Double Kids’ Beds (4'6" x 6'3"): Double kids’ beds are the largest available. They can comfortably fit two or three sleepers, if needed, with six more inches of width over the small double.
