Children’s beds for all ages

A children’s bed is more than just a place for sleep. It’s a place for hearing stories, having cuddles, and playing games. With so much happening, you’ll need to choose a bed that’s up to the task. Whether that means a mid-sleeper bed for creating additional storage space, bunk beds for sharing with siblings, or a double bed for a teenager, we have it here.

Whatever you choose, our children's beds are comfortable, sturdy, and practical - giving you peace of mind, and them rest at night.

The benefits of kids beds

Kids beds are highly beneficial to your growing child, for a few reasons in particular:

Adapting to growing bodies: As they get older, your child’s body develops rapidly. So, changing their bed frame as they age  can support their posture as they grow, reducing discomfort.

Storage options: Kids’ beds can be found in many storage-focused styles, from cabin beds to trundle beds. This helps keep mess off the floor to make more room for activities.

Safety: Making use of sturdy materials like wood and metal, our kids’ beds prioritise your child’s safety above everything else.

Considerations when buying a kids’ bed

Just about to check out? Before you do, make sure you’ve considered the following:

Room size: Be sure to take accurate measurements of your child’s bedroom before looking at a new bed. With this in mind, you can ensure that the bed frame fits properly, without impacting their floor space and freedom.

Storage: If your children’s bedroom is cluttered and littered with toys, books, and games, it could be time to invest in a kids’ storage bed. Rather than needing to use multiple other pieces of furniture, these bed frames introduce clever, hidden underbed storage directly into the bed frame.

Children’s age: When choosing a bed for your child, age ranges matter. As mentioned above, your child’s body goes through a lot of changes, and their height can change rapidly, which is why it’s important to choose a bed frame that gives them enough room to grow without feeling cramped. Remember, if you decide on a bunk bed, only children over the age of six can sleep on the top bunk.

Assembly: Every bed we sell comes flat-packed. While this will mean that some assembly is required, this means you can easily carry the box to your child’s bedroom, without having to worry about tight corners, where you’ll find an easy-to-follow instruction guide in the packaging. When it comes to tools, be sure to have a screwdriver (or a low-powered drill) with Phillips, pozi drive, or hex heads, and a soft mallet.

If you’re struggling to finish the job or are feeling stuck, contact us and we’ll do our best to help. We believe in you!

Cleaning/maintenance: Kids can get in all sorts of messes, which usually finds its way onto their clothes, toys, and beds. Thankfully, keeping your kid’s bed clean is a simple exercise. All you need to do is wipe it down with a damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals where possible, as these can strip the finish on some frames.

Types of kids’ beds

There are many types of kids’ beds, all solving different challenges. For example, if your child needs some space for a play area or more room for extra bedroom furniture, our cabin beds for kids are ideal. Or, you can choose a captain’s bed with drawers underneath to create storage space for clothes, bedding, and towels, all within the bed frame itself.

Kids’ bed styles

There are many kinds of kids’ beds to choose from, including:

Captain’s Beds: A type of platform bed, a captain’s bed features underbed storage in the form of drawers, cabinets, and cupboards.

Day Beds: These multi-purpose bed frames can be transformed into a sitting area/sofa in the day, before becoming a traditional bed by night.

Cabin Beds: Cabin beds are similar to a mid-sleeper bunk bed, featuring a raised sleeping platform that makes space for desks, storage, or other mattresses.

Teenager Beds: These feature slightly more grown-up designs, often featuring desk space and storage underneath the bed.

Kids’ Loft Beds: Loft beds areraised high from the ground (like a high sleeper bunk bed), making way for taller underbed storage underneath like wardrobes, study spaces, and bookcases.

Kids’ Trundle Beds: Trundle beds are designed to be versatile, featuring pull-out mattresses for sleepovers.

Kids’ Guest Beds: From folding beds, to beds with trundles and even sofa beds, a kids’ guest bed can come in quite handy for sleepovers and parties.

Kids’ Storage Beds: This collection of kids’ beds is designed to improve organisation around their bedroom. They feature various storage options, from cupboards and drawers to bookcases and wardrobes.

Kids’ bed materials

Kids’ beds are often made from one durable material - wood. Wood is a widely used material in furniture making, including kids’ wooden beds, mainly due to its high durability and strength. Not only this, but wood is also light-weight and easily repaired.

Most of our kids’ beds are made in melamine-faced chipboard (MFC), which combines particle board with a finishing layer of plastic (melamine).

Kids’ bed sizes and age ranges

Kids beds come primarily in three main size categories:

Toddler Beds (2’3” x 4’ 7”): Toddler beds are smaller than standard bed sizes and are designed to be used by children aged one to four.

Single Kids’ Beds (3'0" x 6'3"): Suitable for most children over four years, as well as young teenagers, single kids’ beds are the second smallest size we have available.

Small Double Kids’ Beds (4'0" x 6'3"): Sitting between single kids’ beds and standard double kids’ beds, small double kids’ beds add an extra foot of width, while keeping the same length as a single.

Double Kids’ Beds (4'6" x 6'3"): Double kids’ beds are the largest available. They can comfortably fit two or three sleepers, if needed, with six more inches of width over the small double.
